Longtime Richmond Firm Latest To Occupy Space At Libbie Mill-Midtown

Posted by   admin on    April 23, 2015

RICHMOND, VA. – Gumenick Properties today announced that Rutherfoord, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC company, is the latest firm to secure office space in the Libbie Mill-Midtown mixed-use community — the largest revitalization project in the 400-year history of Henrico County.

Construction on the 30,000 square foot office space is expected to begin this spring. Upon completion, Rutherfoord plans to consolidate its Richmond office with its KSPH division, a Glen Allen, Virginia-based employee benefits agency acquired by Rutherfoord in 2012. In all, more than 100 Rutherfoord and KSPH employees will come together in Libbie Mill-Midtown, located at 4900 Libbie Mill East Boulevard. Rutherfoord’s offices will occupy space on the first and second floors. Current plans call for the relocation to Libbie Mill-Midtown to occur in spring 2016.

Rutherfoord joins a growing list of organizations that have chosen Libbie Mill-Midtown as their home. These groups include: Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, the Henrico County Libbie Mill-Midtown Library, Gumenick Properties and Southern Season of Chapel Hill, N.C., which operates a 53,000-square foot gourmet food store. All these organizations currently are operating at the community with the exception of the new Henrico library, which is slated to open in November 2015.

“Leaving downtown Richmond is a difficult decision for us, but the combination of location and amenities being developed at Libbie Mill-Midtown, was just too appealing,” said John C. Stanchina, Rutherfoord President.

“We are delighted to welcome Rutherfoord to Libbie Mill-Midtown. We believe that this community will offer an ideal location for their business operations, as well as the most modern office space in the region. We also are delighted that the company will be close neighbors, located immediately across the street from our offices,” said Wayne A. Chasen, Gumenick Properties’ President and CEO.

Libbie Mill-Midtown will be unique, existing as both a thriving local community and a regional destination. Its Midtown location is convenient to Richmond, western Henrico County and major roadways, including I-64 and I-95. When complete, the community is projected to have up to 994 homes for sale and 1,096 apartments. Libbie Mill-Midtown also will have a total of approximately 160,000 square feet of office and retail space. The neighborhood is estimated to take approximately 10 years to complete.

CBRE|Richmond represents Gumenick Properties for the leasing of retail and office portions of Libbie Mill-Midtown. The community has a variety of office and retail spaces available. Interested parties should contact CBRE|Richmond for details. Barry Hofheimer and Robby Brownfield handle retail leasing for the property, and Scott Durham and Malcolm Randolph oversee leasing for the office component.
