Growing residential population drives interest in retail spaces at the Gumenick community
HENRICO CO., VA., October 29, 2020 – Henrico-based Gumenick Properties is pleased to announce that The Stables Market, an affiliate of The Stables restaurant in Richmond, has leased approximately 2,540 square feet in the Penstock Quarter building located at 5001 Libbie Mill East Blvd, adding to the growing list of retail services moving to Libbie Mill – Midtown. Planning to open in early 2021, The Stables Market will be an upscale local market with high quality grab and go food, craft beer and wine, and convenience items for the Libbie Mill neighborhood and surrounding community. To-go food will be prepared and pre-packaged daily by Chef Evan Campbell of The Stables restaurant. Peter Vick and Harrison Hall with Colliers International represented Gumenick, and Adam Lawson with JLL represented The Stables Market.
The Stables restaurant has achieved wide acclaim in the Richmond food scene since opening in 2017. There was a desire to expand the restaurant’s offerings to include a unique and convenient experience for the Libbie Mill – Midtown neighborhood. Steven Gooch, President of JRG Markets, LLC, said "We are very excited about The Stables Market. Gumenick Properties has put together an incredible and vibrant development and I am so glad we are going to get to be part of that community. I am thrilled that we are going to bring the restaurant quality food, drink, and groceries we have heard people calling for. With so many people no more than an elevator ride away, not to mention those a short walk or drive, we can’t wait to introduce them to the incredible food Chef Evan prepares at The Stables on Belmont.” The enthusiasm of Steven Gooch is echoed by those that live and work in the Libbie Mill – Midtown community who have been awaiting a local market of this sort.
“We have eagerly anticipated the arrival within Libbie Mill – Midtown of a convenience market rooted in a local Richmond business to add to the amenities available to all area residents. The Stables Market will be a great compliment to the growing number of retailers within the Libbie Mill – Midtown community and we look forward to their bright future at the development.” states Diane Tidwell, Gumenick Properties’ Director of Property Management for Virginia.
In addition to The Stables Market lease, progress continues at Libbie Mill – Midtown with the construction of The Corner Shops retail building, projected to be completed in early November. Soon after completion, the new drive-thru Starbucks plans to open for business. Construction also continues on Wellsmith Apartments, a new 349-unit apartment building, opening in Fall 2021. This building will offer a mix of studio, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartment homes for rent as well as dynamic amenity spaces for residents. Demand for new-construction townhomes and condos remains strong, and progress continues on The Neighborhood at Libbie Mill – Midtown. The clubhouse and pool for-sale community opened earlier this summer. Additional retail space is available for lease, for more information please contact Colliers International.
